Microdermabrasion and Microneedling

AcneSpecialist's treatments for acne scars are developed to treat scarring mainly on the face and back but also other parts of the body where you have had acne. Acne scars come in many different forms, which is why we offer both microdermabrasion and microneedling to give you a treatment that suits your scars.

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion effectively treats milder acne scars by grinding and moisturizing the skin. A nozzle sucks up the skin with a vacuum, which is then ground using laser-cut diamond crystals. The number of treatments depends on the amount of scarring on the skin, but we usually recommend 5-10 treatments to achieve the best results.

Microdermabrasion can also be used to treat: pigment changes, scarring, sensitive skin, sun-damaged and aging skin, dryness and also reduces pores.

Microneedling

Microneedling is an effective treatment for more severe acne scars on the face and back. The treatment uses a pen-like apparatus that contains microneedles that create a series of smaller vertical penetrating holes in the skin. Microneedling is clinically proven to dramatically reduce most types of skin imperfections such as acne scars, surgical scars, fine lines, wrinkles, enlarged pores, and stretch marks. The treatment makes the skin softer and denser which makes it look more youthful. During the treatment we also apply hyaluronic acid active agents which are absorbed deep into the skin.

For best results, 4-6 treatments are usually recommended at 3-week intervals depending on the type of skin and the amount of acne you have.
